About Haberman + Nerds

African-owned children's book publisher. Fresh voices, amazing art.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create stunning literature for everyone, especially the African child. We find and elevate excellent African stories, match compelling storytelling with outstanding illustration and visual art, and create beautiful books capable of standing the test of time.

We give African children stories in which their worlds, histories, and cultures matter. We showcase the range and originality of African literary and artistic voices. And we create community, networking, and marketing opportunities for creative talent.

Founded in the UK with deep roots in Ghana, Haberman + Nerds is a wholly African-owned press that welcomes both aspiring and established storytellers and artists. We believe every child deserves to see their world reflected on the page — and that African stories belong on every bookshelf in the world.
