Bernard K. Mensah

Bernard K. Mensah is a Ghanaian-born British African children’s author whose books celebrate African culture, folklore, and adventure. His picture books and chapter series are published by Penguin Random House, Scholastic, Chronicle Books, National Geographic Kids, and Simon & Schuster.

His debut picture book *Esi the Brave* received a Kirkus starred review and a starred review from Shelf Awareness. The *Kwame’s Magic Quest* chapter book series (Scholastic) follows a young boy drawn into magical adventures rooted in Ghanaian mythology. His work spans ages 0 to 12, from the Twi-English board book *Sunshine Baby, Bofrot Cheeks* to the action-packed comic *Yawa the Adventurer*.

Bernard is the founder of Haberman + Nerds Press, through which he champions African creative talent and works to ensure African children see their worlds, languages, and histories reflected in the books they read.
